The Sound of Birds: Using Acoustic Monitoring to Examine Avian Elevational Migrations in the Pacific Forest of Ecuador
Ryce Hailes, a master’s student at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute will talk about using recording devices to investigate how birds migrate from high elevations to low elevations in different seasons in the Pacific forests of Ecuador.

Hoekje Scholarship Recipient Presentations
For this meeting, we will gather at the Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in Room 127 at 7 PM to congratulate our AOC Hoekje Scholarship Recipients and hear about the research they are conducting. A birdwalk around campus will precede the meeting.

Powderhorn Ranch WMA
Leader Dan Walker (TPWD) will guide us through the new Powderhorn Ranch WMA to see Whooping Cranes and other coastal prairie species. A new state park is being developed adjacent to this site. Meeting details added soon.

We will meet at the main gate, 10769 Farm to Market Rd 1289 Port O’Connor 77982 at 8 AM.
If you are coming from Corpus Christi, take TX-35 east past Tivoli until it intersects with TX-185 where you turn right; this will take you through the town of Seadrift nearly to Port O'Connor. 10 Miles past Seadrift is the intersection with Farm to Market 1289 where you'll turn left (there is a sign for Powderhorn WMA at the corner here) and another half mile the entrance/meeting point will be on your right where another sign for Powderhorn WMA is just beyond the gate. When I plug "Powderhorn Wildlife Management Area" into Google Maps it takes me directly to the meeting point.

Whitecap NPI Preserve
Meet at the Whitecap NPI headquarters at 14353 Commodores Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78418 to accompany Whitecap staff onto the new preserve in-development within the new housing development being constructed along Aquarius and Commodores. This is a great opportunity to tour a new nature preserve as it is being created.
